西方管理学者从事的工作通常分为两类:理论工作与实践工作。然而,在中国甚至整个东方,人们普遍认为理论与实践不可分割,历史上也从未有过理论工作与实践工作的分别。本文在全球背景下探求管理学的意义以求缩小东西方之间观念的差距,这是了解当今管理学者学术生涯的意义以及学者如何为管理研究工作及其专业做出贡献的核心问题。笔者从事管理学研究三十年,创立动态竞争、文化双融两个独特的研究领域,并为支持研究工作而创办了各种学术、商业社群。这些创业经历都基于包容的“中国式管理理念”。本文旨在分享笔者学术创业经历中的个人经验和心得。对于寻求理论与实践相互结合及平衡发展职业生涯的学术工作者而言,笔者在整合理论与实践基础上的创业或许能提供借鉴。
