The destiny and development of sixty years of Journal of Finance and Economics are closely related to the economy, higher education, economics, and economics journals in China. Based on the historical data of Journal of Finance and Economics and other core economics journals from 1956 to 2015, this paper makes a lateral and longitudinal comparison from the perspectives of the number of papers issued, citation frequency, disciplines papers issued belong to, columns, areas papers issued belong to, institutions paper issued belong to, authors and key words. It arrives at the conclusions as follows: firstly, domestic main economics journals experience the convergence phenomenon in the aspects of disciplines papers issued belong to, column selection and research topic preference, but each journal has its own characteristics, forming a trend of dislocation development; secondly, the strengths of Journal of Finance and Economics are three columns, namely finance & accounting, integration and finance, and it is featured by the research of fiscal decentralization, institutional change, foreign direct investment, small & medium sized enterprises and so on; thirdly, the main problems in the development of China's economics journals lie in lower internationalization; fourthly, China's economics journals fully embody big historical propositions and stage characteristics of economic development in China, and many major issues concerning social and economic reform have been theoretically elaborated and have been provided for policy suggestions in the journals since the founding of new China. In short, China's economics journals not only witness the social changes and economic development of China's sixty years, but also make contributions to the establishment of the economics discourse system with Chinese characteristics.
