Traditional enterprises, constrained by their own resources and capabilities, may choose to embed into the ecosystem led by platform enterprises to promote their digital transformation, but it is not easy to implement this process. This paper uses the theoretical sampling method to conduct a case study on the process of “Tong Shifu”, a copper handicraft manufacturing enterprise, embedding into the Xiaomi ecosystem to promote digital transformation. The study finds that traditional enterprises embedding into the platform ecosystem requires not only coordination of resources and capabilities, but also convergence of managerial cognition and platform ecosystem operation concepts among enterprise leaders. Specifically, traditional enterprises embedding into the platform ecosystem to promote digital transformation includes three stages: collision, adaptation, and symbiosis. The co-development of managerial cognition and trial-and-error learning promotes the stage evolution of this digital transformation.
